Darren is an independent environmental consultant working in the waste field. He has over 18 years experience both within New Zealand and the UK having worked for ICI, British Gas and was seconded as an environmental consultant to GlaxoSmithKline and British Airways. Prior to setting up Patterson Environmental Limited he worked at Environment Canterbury for 10 years. His role included providing advice and guidance on the management of waste and hazardous substances within the Canterbury Region. He was responsible for developing and managing the implementation of the Canterbury Hazardous Waste Management Strategy, the regional agrichemical collection and the Pollution Prevention Programme. He is a board member of WasteMinz and has been the chair of the Liquid and Hazardous Waste Sector Group for the past 7 years.
