Sustainable Business

It can be tough trying to instigate changes to work place practises.
Under taking a sustainability audit can establish where wasteful processes in the workplace can be improved.
By taking the time to ask simple questions about what resources and systems your company currently uses – small changes will lead to reductions in unnecessary wastage across the board. This is all a part of the sustainable development process – so your company can move toward cleaner and greener practices.
Can your company afford to NOT proceed with a sustainability audit and make the move to more sustainable practices?
Sustainability is a strong marketing tool. To be perceived by stakeholders as having failed to adopt the practices of environmental movement can be so counterproductive that there is no doubt revenue will be lost to more enviro-savvy competitors. As stated by Brian Murphy, Professor of Marketing at Massey University “Leading businesses are sustainable businesses, implying being in business for the long term by being responsible stewards of resources.”
The purpose of a sustainability audit is to establish:
What are the sustainability issues within your organisation? Consider: excess required travel, materials that are used for everyday work etc.
What are the company’s sustainability goals? eg: to be completely carbon neutral by a certain year (if this is realistic), to see a significant reduction in the current amount of waste.
How will the current management systems have to change if sustainable practices are adopted in the workplace?
What is the company’s sustainability vision for the future? (this will be the continual driving factor and source of motivation).
