Markets: The Revolution of Shopping

Buying local is a great way to minimize the environmental impact that many of your goods can have. And in today’s throw-away culture, which is leading to overflowing landfills, what can be better than going back to basics when you shop?

Markets are a great way to support local, talented people. Often you can pick up one-of-a-kind things and you know that the goods that you buy at a market are made with love and care: not off-shore by a poor kid forced into cheap labour!

If you are in the Christchurch/Canterbury region come the 28th July you could wander down to the Craft Invaders Market held in association with CPIT, Felt and the Craft Collective.

With any luck the sun will be shining, and you can fill those shopping bags with locally made products. It might only be doing a little bit to help the big problems that we face, but every little bit counts right?
