How to Apply

Applications to SIFT for Funding

We have made some changes to the application process:
  • Eligibility Criteria
  • Funding Deadlines
  • Funding Process
  • Assessment Process

Eligibility Criteria:

Project proposals for SIFT funding assistance are invited from individuals, business and organisations on a month to month basis (with current dates set out below). An assessment process follows that is conducted case by case with funding only provided for project proposals that demonstrate a number of benefits to Canterbury and will include some or all of the following:

  • Reduce waste currently being released into the Environment
  • Introduce new waste minimisation research and development, technology, or innovation to the region
  • Show leadership in waste minimisation
  • Create new jobs in Canterbury
  • Contribute to the Economic Development for the Canterbury region
  • Project proposal ideas should be unique within Canterbury
Projects are usually funded through early stage or through multiple funding steps, the latter usually in joint initiatives; with a long term focus being on sustainable development. Many of the projects are initially research driven and develop commercially at a later stage. SIFT considers finance packages from a range of flexible options that take into account the funding needs of each applicant.
